Minions: Rise of Gru (QuickBite Reviews)

I didn’t think that another prequel would be worth it, but I was proved wrong.

Minions: The Rise of Gru is one of those movies that you could see yourself watching on a Friday night after a long week and think “Eh. Sure I’ll watch it.

The movie follows a young Gru in the 1970s as he aspires to be a world famous supervillain, much like his heroes (or, more appropriately, villains) the feared “Vicious Six.” The Minions have just met Gru, leaving him to deal with their antics. I can’t give away much without giving away the whole plot, though the premise is not much different than the other Despicable Me movies.

The advertising campaign for the film was just as entertaining than the film itself. Featuring lots of slapstick humor, funny gags, and well, Minions, it was ultimately a good laugh. Its nothing memorable, but sometimes, it’s fun when a film doesn’t take itself so seriously.
