Yes, yes, yes! This review has perfectly summed up all my gripes with "A Complete Unknown" to a tee. Aside from Timothee Chalamet's nearly perfect embodiment of Bob Dylan's energy, the film itself fails to make Dylan feel heroic or admirable. Bob Dylan comes across as pretentious, not enigmatic. He's rude and self-interested, not revolutionary and introspective.
The incident at the Folk Festival only adds to the disconnect. Pete Seeger, Joan Baez, and the others who supported Dylan’s rise to stardom come across as betrayed by a rebellion that seems driven solely by a reflexive desire to provoke them.
As someone who came into the film not knowing a thing about Bob Dylan, my opinion has only worsened. Whether its because the film did a poor job of depicting the artist or the fact that Bob Dylan really was just "that bad" of a person as you mention, I honestly can't say.
